Yesterday my 1978 ex MoD 109 Series 3 2.25 petrol arrived. Never had one before but needed a project for the winter so thought I'd try something new. Total confusion when I couldn't find where to put the fuel in and what are all these knobs and switches about? I've found two red lidded tanks under the seats. Petrol I presume? There is a central knob which has 5 settings and when connected to another battery made various lights come on. I've also got an infra red headlights switch. So much new stuff to get my head round. I'd be grateful if anyone can shed any light on the central dashboard knob and clarify that I can put petrol in the red lidded tanks (seems a bit daft for a military vehicle, take a hit and thoroughly roast your chestnuts!!).
I'm getting all my thick questions in early. :)
Cheers

Dave

seems like youve found tank fillers, and convoy light switch, should have a lever on seat box to select either tank to run from

im on day 5 of series ownership, journeys in the rain all days so far, found out how to put the wipers on this afternoon...fail

Put some pics up!
+1 to that, we like piccies :)
OP, they are a bit different at first, especially if youre new to old vehicles in general. Don't despair you will soon get there, and we have all been there. Some of your questions have been answered, sounds like a manual would be a good investment.;)

next one anti clockwise is off then tail lights only next side lights and tail next all lights ie head lamps as well ,the last 2 positions are all you need for the road

The clue is that you have got a petrol Landy, and it has a couple of tanks for fuel.

Do you put petrol in? You might just find that your injun works betterer on petrol than doozil! :D

If in doubt, have a sniff at the tanks, but take the fag out of yer gob first! :D :D
