I've searched this forum for an answer but, I have a1999 1.8 16v, driving in traffic about 5 mph and when I went to move of faster the car stalled and wouldnt start again, ii thought broken timing belt, got recovered and checked the belt, not broke, checked the timing, marks line up, the engine turns over but I'm not getting a spark at the plugs or from the coil, I'm getting fuel pressure, I know about the dizzy and rotor arm but they aren't even burnt or corroded, the car wasn't missing or anything unusual until this happened, would it be the crank sensor ???, and would it just go like that.

check all the wires firs including the main ht wire also check the rotor arm which is held on by a screw it could be something so simple

So mate how do I do a resistance test, cheers
You need a multimeter set on Ohms. You should see a reading of about 1 K Ohm. You should also be able to test it's voltage output with the meter set on volts. Cranking the engine should show a voltage.

Yea mate I do that when I get a meter from work on Monday, when I had the sensor out I noticed at the end where the plug is, it looks a bit melted on the plastic casing, I looked at new ones on Google and they are sealed, I'm going along the lines of replacing it.
