Solo trails/Green Lanes?

I'm based in Brum and have never taken my P38 offroading before.

I'm not looking for anything strenuous or tight (don't want to damage the paintwork although I wonder if this is equivalent to saying "I don't want to damage my nails taking out the bins")

I don't think Green Laning alone is ideal as the unknown can be dangerous, so I guess I'm looking for some offroading trails (but I think don't exist freely due to the legality of land.)

Can anyone recommend either a green lane or just a general, easy-going offroading trail? I'm tech-savvy and would prefer a digital solution vs. pulling out a map.

I'm Midlands as well, don't think there's much around us

I joined GLASS a couple of years ago, they've got trailwise digital maps but you need to cross check if the lanes are open with the local council I think. I never took the plunge. Be good if we could get a little group with some more experienced members on a trip not too far away. I've got an l322, its not perfect but I wouldn't want anything damaging either, just get out in the scenery a bit.

North Wales is prob our best bet for lanes, or a pay and play site

A shame. I was hoping to take the offroading tonight. The closest I've gone to offroading was taking the car onto the patches of grass in Sutton Park but decided very quickly it wasn't worth it!
 
You go to the land rover shows? The off road courses are pretty fun if you aint done it before

Have a search for pay and play sites near Midlands there used to be a fair few

Nope, never have and don't intend to anytime soon, to be honest.

I need to patch a few things on the car. I rarely drive it but I thought I'd have some fun as I fixed a few problems in the last few days.

I guess I'll stick to hitting potholes on some Solihull country lanes for now.

Thanks - 1hr30mins away, hmm. I think this will be my best bet for now.

In the future, I think I need to explore some Green Lanes as ideally, I want to spend some time alone.

Its not recommended to greenlane alone, especially without experience

Get over to Bewdley and camp out for a couple of nights at a small site?

Worcs and Shropshire have plenty and aren't that far away. Go a little further and you've got Wales, Leics, Northants etc.

GLASS are fairly on top of the updates so Trailwise is usually up to date whether a lane is shut or not.

Shropshire's decent for easy non-damaging lanes with plenty of scenery.

It's not recommended if you've never done it before. It's not as bad when you've got a bit of experience, although the AA/RAC won't get you from a lane so there's always some risk laning alone especially in a Land Rover

Shropshire - would you say these lanes are easy to do alone? I'm really wanting a solo drive on an easy path (if it exists).

I got my small fix yesterday by driving it on uneven roads. Other cars had to slow down for the raised ironworks but I sailed through! A bunch of women also said between themselves that they liked the classics. Win-win! ;)
