is there a distance that the solenoid has to be from the winch to work correctly?

im thinking of moving the albright solenoid for the front winch which is currently behind the front grill.

and the rear winch hasnt been connected up yet,so could they be both moved internally to say the rear cab area or would the cables from them to the winch be too long to work efficiently?..or dont it matter
 
The longer the cable length then the more resistance there is and hence the higher the volatge drop and the hotter they get.

However the biger the cable you use (its the cross sectional area this is important, with is a square of the radius) the less the inate resitance of the cable.

Therefore if your going to use a long cable run then make sure the cable is upto the job, and big enough.
