Well, after 5 (nearly 6) very enjoyable months of ownership, I sold the Range Rover this evening! :(

Quite sad to see it go really, but it was too expensive to run (thanks taxman!) and was too good for greenlaning and offroading.

Anyway, here's a couple of pics of it taken earlier today:

Bye bye Rangie! Now, I'm on the lookout for a 300Tdi (more economical plus 2,500 litres a year can be veggie oil - woohoo!)...but can't decide whether to go for another Classic, a Disco 1 or even something a bit more basic, like a diesel Defender or Series III? Decisions, decisions...!

I sold mine a while back :-(
A shame but it was not road worthy and or though it was fan-bloody-tastic off road I didn't own a transporter trailer plus no time no money that post of thing...
Be sure to keep us posted about your new toy!

If it's pure economy disco or deffie.....but you'd surely miss a Range even more if you "rough-it" like that! ;)

Why would you think that a disco or defender would be any more economical to run than a RRC diesel:confused:

Get yourself a 200tdi or 300tdi RRC, you already know your way around an RRC so you'll be able to spot a lemon a mile off. You won't regret it.

I had a 200tdi 92 RRC, absolutely loved it but it rotted out from under me:eek:

72 on gas is my plan to ge round this , tinly tech can give me the whole kit including vertical teroidial tank for £675 including vat and delivery and the road tax is free :D

I started major work on her today, check my album

I did consider gassing the RRC, but just wasnt worth it!

I would consider a Tdi RRC, but we'll see what's out there - no rush!

Hi mate!

I recon if you go for a Defender from having the RR youl regret it as soon as youve handed the cash over and driving it home (When you are reflecting what youve just done!)

Theres nowt wrong with the Defender (Apart from alot of things)

I went from a Defender, which i absolutley loved, to me Rangie and theres not a day go by now where i miss it!

Even when i now drive the one at work (Which is a 60 plate) i cant imagine giving up my dearly belovered for another.....

Obviously the choice is yours mate, its just my opinion :)

Good luck

Thanks for the opinion Scott! So to clarify, you're saying you prefer the Rangie to the Defender? What Rangie have you got?

Yes mate i prefer the Rangie to the Defender, I have a 1996 P38 mate.

Its not the most perfectly reliable vehicle ever built as we all know, having owned both now i would personally chose the Rangie.

The Defender i had was the one in my profile and avatar pic, i loved it to bits and thought id never get rid, but now i dont regret swapping for my Rangie one bit.

I dont miss having no heater, water dripping on me and me feet when it rained, ringing ears on medium to long runs, always underneith tinkering and maintaining, rubbish wipers, uncomfortable....

Yes i still have to maintain the Rangie but most of which is easily accessed under the bonnet rather then laid on me back in the cold lol!

I love mostly everything about my P38 from the heated screen on frosty mornings to the style and comfort. Just got to find a good one, look after it and it will give you a smile everytime you drive it!
