The new Defender Commercial that l ordered back in January

Now l have to decide what to do, l don't suppose there will be much love for the new version on here, but in terms of business use the figures work well as it's a Commercial Vehicle, and l can't say it's not nice to drive, because it is.

ldeally l would have both, but that's not possible.

(the white stripes on the rear panels and squares on the doors are just factory tape for delivery and will of course be removed)

I would take a silver rattle can to the wheels. Probably wouldn’t even bother to mask the tyres either :p
 
To me, the Defender 90 Commercial is the best looking of the new ones. The 'Defender DNA' as they call it is more apparent.
Not so keen on the 110 look.
Will they do a 90 commercial soft top? :cool:

Will do, although l still haven't decided. My Defender buyer is unable to proceed at the £20,000 l wanted so l would have to accept the lower £18,500 offer made by a local LR specialist.

There would have to be a financial benefit to selling it privately to a friend because l would feel responsible for it, whereas once sold
to a dealer my responsibility is over.

This increases the payments on the loan l
will need to take out, to £40 above the £300 limit l decided on.

lt's not a lot more, but it all adds up. But if l don't buy the new one now, l won't qualify for the 130% "Super Deduction" where l can claim 130% of the cost against my tax. (£54,000 + 30% = £70,000)
As this ends in March 2023. As it stands the £14,000 saving in tax will cover the £340 per month finance for the next three years

So it's now or (probably) never

When the first pictures of the new defender came out I was critical, as were most defender enthusiasts. As their numbers have increased on the road they have grown on me and now I look at them and think hmmm :) Not in a Halle Berry sort of way, obviously! But attracted, none the less. Good luck with it mate. I hope it serves you well and look forward to seeing how you get on with it. Fingers crossed emoji
 
Where the sandwich box for the side?

I see a lot of these now towing plant machinery around so must be up to the job. Took some time to get used to the looks but now I’m ok with them
 
This is none of my business, but I'm not sure how the figures stack up.. 54K for the new one, less 18.5 for the old leaves 35.5.. so then 340 per month for 36 months pays them £12240 - don't see how that works as a purchase ? - or is it a lease with an option to purchase fee at the end ?

If it works for you, then go for it :) ..

And then you can change those fugly wheels :D:D ..
 
Good luck with it. The dealers around here are really struggling with them- the general complexity and lack of skilled technicians is resulting in a lot of dissatisfied customers, stuck with loan vehicles for weeks on end. However, I'm sure many owners are very happy with their purchases and I hear really good reports of their off-road capabilities.

The finance would be over four years (£15,000) and after selling mine for £18,500 leaves a difference of £20,000 which will come from savings and the business reserve.

So it's a big purchase which is why l am hesitating after being unable to achieve the price l wanted for my 110.

Although as l said previously it only makes a difference of £40 per month to the loan payments

l don't really have an issue with the wheels but they will probably get changed in time, if l buy the vehicle

I would not worry about the sale of your landy. Let them have the trouble of tyre kickers & further hassle.
As a company vehicle your doing the right thing,you need reliability & comfort.
And just think of all the free time you will get on a weekend not repairing it or jet washing the drive of oil ;)
 
Take the new one, you know you want to! You won’t regret it, just don’t make a direct comparison to the old version as they are chalk & cheese(as well you know).

I’ve enjoyed every variant of the L663 I’ve run so far, having just handed back a 130. I’ll be back in a 90 (300x) by Xmas and is the one I would keep if I get the option.

Whilst you have the rattle can out, it's a good idea to spray your house number on the front of your house, but must be done wonky and squashed up, where you have ran out of room
