I just had a thought
You aren't allowed to shoot someone with a gun using lethal ammo unless they threaten you with a gun or other threatening object such as a knife (only allowed to fire one shot though or until they run or are hit by one I think as that would be reasonable force)
However they make home defence plastic and rubber shells so would you be allowed to use them against someone who was say trying to take your garden gnome
