Looking good DD

I can see that working fine on the 1.8 K and L series.
It won't be so easy on a TD4 with the FBH fitted however.

Step ahead of you. I have a mirror image for the other pillar :D for td4 and v6. Got all engines covered and 3&5 door models. I've got one ready to fit to my Guinea Pig td4 to take some pics. Problem is its black so it's not so photogenic with a black snorkel

Send me a sample and I'll fit it to my fire engine red TD4. :p

I don't plan to put my car in water deep enough to need a snorkel (hopefully)
I know the air intake is in the wing of a TD4 so does that mean it is safe to drive through water which comes to the top of the wheel arch but no higher?

Well, the alternator is much lower so you're still taking a gamble with that. I'd call them clean air feeds rather than snorkels...

I'm surprised no ones looked at making some alternator relocation brackets (assuming there was room to move it higher).

I'd like one BUT being as I have no intention of going off road I'd just be posing.
To be honest, I think anyone with a snorkel on a Freelander would have to be posing (each to their own of course). If the water is that deep then you really shouldn't be in it... .. neither should all the electronics, actuators, sensors, computerised controllers etc etc etc...

They are definitely a fashion accessory (if you are into that sort of thing). A bit like a Defender (Dufff Ender) or similar - or god forbid - even a Freelander at Tesco's or the school run with a Paris Dakar style roof rack that wouldn't look out of place on an Indian market bus..
:p

I'd like one purely for function, I know a freelander isn't a deep swimmer but after last few years floods here near me the only car that got my wife to work was our freelander.

And even that was a bit dodgy, it's just nice to have the option.

As for td4 alternator has anyone considered developing a shield or partially plating surround for it?

Il have have one for sure for my TD4 left me know when your ready to sell and I will buy.

Hi. Should be listing them on my shop in the next couple of days. I need to get proper photos of both types. My wing template is being drawn up on cad. I think it's ready to go really. I'm looking at a two week lead time on orders as I don't want to keep many in stock due to the expense of them. I'll post on here when I'm officially ready. But I'll put you on the list in anticipation.
