Snorkel query...

Just a quick question regarding my snorkel. I have a safari one that I took off my old disco, however 3 of the bolts that hold it on got seized so I cut the heads off and figured I sort it later. Unfortunately the brass fittings in the snorkel are all spinning

I've tried soaking them wd but their not budging. Is there anything else I can try or is it new snorkel time? If so is it possible to buy just the main body as i've got everything else.

Cheers for any advice.

There are 6 (or maybe 8) bolts - do you need them all?

Could you drop some glue down the gap to stop it spinning? Do you mean the brass insert into the plastic snorkel.
A pic would be good.

There's 6, probably don't need them all but not sure I want to risk it with only 3.

There isn't really a gap as such, plus I don't think it'd be strong enough. I do indeed mean the brass fixings that are set into the plastic. I'll get a pic tomorrow for you.

Can you transfer any heat to locally melt the plastic so it grabs again? induction heating would work. i.e heat the metal not the plastic.

Ok, I got a couple of pics to help explain this a little better....

To be honest, this could've worked in my favour. There was no chance of saving the original fittings, when I tried to tap them they were just spinning and there was no way of holding them tight. The holes don't go all the way through as the plastic is moulded round the fittings so the plan now is to somehow bond some nuts into the holes and job should be a good un'. Just need to work out whats going to be best to hold them in.

Tiger seal should work at holding them in.

I'd file afew small groves into the edges of the hole so that the adhesive has a positive contact rather than being able to spin in a round hole. Araldite would probably work well at holding a threaded insert/nut. Or fill it with chemical metal so you can drill and tap it.

use threaded rubber grommet - made for the job and seals hole.
