Thanks Mikescuba, l
I just may take your advice and have a lie down,
I learnt that the hard way! only think i dunk now is a good biscuit!

Yeah true D2 is a little more vunerable imo than the Fender.

Personally standard practice for me is to extend all breathers at least to the top of the bulkhead, only costs about £25 if that to do.

TD5s i believe its, x2 axles, TX box, Gearbox & fuel tank. Worth doing...

I have read and been told by a few mechanics (inc an ex LR one) that the TD5 ECU is actually waterproof. What isnt waterproof is the connections (red/black plug) and the wiring leading into them. What you can do is fill the holes in the back of the connector with some silicone, a thick silicone based grease should be enough to keep it water tight. If youre worried then you could use a light silicone sealant. This is providing the ECU hasnt previously been opened.

Looking at the informed advice I think extending the breathers may be a better way forward, appreciate your thoughts and advice

Thanks for the sensible reply. I will.
Aye I wasn't taking the pee.... I was considering it and got the costs and even Mantec to sort a batch production of them as they don't stock/make the metal intakes for 110 now, they would do this if I could get enough folk. But then I actually went outside and looked at the air intake and thought, If I go up to that I am going to knacker all manner of interior/welding, bits I spent forever drying and sealing and its just not worth it.
Its a lot higher than you think, and whilst LR official is up to the axles if you went to the air intake its quite a feat. Add to that the bow wave effect (which I wouldn't rely on as a silver bullet for wading higher).

I think 90 percent of people with a raised air intake don't have it correctly installed for wading i.e if you place your hand over it, it should stall. I think this is one of the reasons they stopped calling them snorkels.

It's a fashion accessory for 90% of people. That's not a bad thing - if they like the look, go for it.
