Here is the symptoms.
I have an erratic misfire on all over the range of cylinders.
On start up from cold the revs shoot up to 2500 then try to die down to 1500 and up and down between the 2 for a a short time. Dies down to 1000 and stays between 1000 1500 whilst driving . settles down to 750 but obviously missing and comes up with code 1319 which is misfire.
New items fitted:
2 new O2 sensors
New Throttle position sensor
removed and checked cam sensor. Bit of swarf cleaned off and replaced.
Live readings from MAF look OK . engine temp when hot 95 deg, air temp 35 which I think is a little high but only read when stationary.
I have magnacore leads. Taken all off from passenger side and ran engine. Massive spark from lead ends so not a problem there. I conclude from this leads and coils ok as leads on passenger side come from both sets of coils and misfire is not specific to any cylinder.
Whilst trying to purchase plugs from my local motor factors the snap on man was parked up. I asked him if their diagnostics could reset fuel trims. He wired me up and showed misfire was not cylinder specific (so I didn't purchase plugs), but could not reset fuel trims on his hugely expensive gear.
Am I missing something here as im stumped before I take it to an indy who will do the usual. New Coills, plugs, leads, cam sensor, maf. and we still have the same problem but £500 worse off.
Its a 4.0 thor and its starting to eat into time I should be enjoying in the 14 deg C rain and wind this weekend.
