Just read through this, brilliant! :)
A year older than my landy and you've done a lot of what I'd like to do...

Butch

Cheers! :D

Kind of got stuck in as didnt need to drive it daily and used the B & W show as a milestone to keep the momentum!
Now its down to finishing off the inside, probably not on such a panic and theres still a big wish list of things to attend to, but its used regularly and loving it! :D

Looks great mate! We just painted straight over ours with nato green but when I get time I'll eventually give it a good rub down and do a proper job, thinking of blue...

Keep up the good work...

Butch

Tad behind schedule but away in the Landy this weekend so wanted to get some more stuff done.
So now replaced all the hub covers as they stop gear oil seeping out and the recently replaced front axle seal has worked and stopped that oil leak.
Next will be the vacuum pump that needs a new gasket and possible inner seal.
Anyways the pics will show part of the sound proofing kit going on, have just laid the floor pan ones and dropped some nice thick wilkinsons rubber mats on them and instantly noticed a bit of noise drop.
Have now fitted the bonnet layers but still have to do the bulkhead and tunnel layers that will probbaly make an even bigger difference.
Not started her up since doing the bonnet so willl keep you posted.
Also fitted rear step, SIMPLES lined up with tapped holes on the rear cross member...happy days so no drilling required.
Its a Padocks one for about £34 inc VAT.

Not overly happy with the brakes, they pull up fine but can feel the pedal drop if you leave the pressure on, so initial pressure is lost.
Have bled them and slight improvement, both front calipers, hoses and offside rear slave cylinder had been replaced just prior to me buying and all work fine, have also checked rear pads etc and all adjusted well.
Hoses dont swell when used, and no leaks, so am suspecting master cylinder is tired, I am suspicious of the vacuum unit too so after our trip away I will investigate and report back as is a regular subject on the forums :)

Well great 4 days away using 110 as a tent (second outing) and works great.
Addition of cut foam that goes on the pull out bed boards much better than airbed and worked really well.
Also addition of £5 "awning" gave bit of shade and simple to set up.
Not quite the comforts of our motor home but was well up to the job, enjoyed the green lane getting to the wknds venue too.
Overall about 300 mile round trip and just over half a tank of fuel left, getting 30 to the gallon easy.
Brakes **** still so new vacuum pump will now be on order :)

Update on the sound proofing- It seems to work!
Only fitted floor pan parts (not glued in) covered with rubber mats from Wilkinsons.
Then glued into place bonnet parts using spray evo-stik and worked well.

Definitely a lot quieter noticeable on 3 hour drive! still have to add in bulk head parts and seat box covers, overall the benefit seems worth the £65 or so. :)

Been logging fuel economy as had read that these ol NAS engines are slow underpowered and really thirsty.....wrong.

Well yes they are bit slow (I average about 50-53 MPH, underpowered? well it does the job well, but thirsty? definitely not!
Have monitored this from end of the engine part build and getting 29.54 MPG mixed use, now that my friends I reckon is dam good!

Tasks this weekend.
Fix brake prob, as they work ok but pressure releases gradually re-pump and fine so have got a new master cylinder unit £25 + VAT (£30) so going to completely bleed through after fitting.
Also got some internal LED lights that I am modifying to work from the main battery so will explain how this will be done.
Other job is continue with fitting the sound proofing matting that seems quite good.
But there is some wwork to be done to the inside of the bulkhead and the windscreen rubber needs replacing before I stick absorbant matting.

Will keep things updated :)

Nice, I have had a chat with a guy on here called oldseadog - he has given my advice on how to set the injection pump properly, he see well over 30mpg from his and upto 75mph

Yep, I fitted a new (reconditioned one) which is still as original set up, but believe you can adjsut the governor / piston stroke to increase fuel pressure / supply under load.

I do need a new lift pump as the seals in mine have hardened so has lost some efficiency and this can certainly effect performance as the injector pump can be starved of fuel especially on hills.
Will get one ordered.
May think about adjusting the injector pump, can also set rev limiter but dont want to scream the ol girl too much! :D

Hi Steve,

Where did you get your soundproofing kit from?

Thanks,

Wes

Hi, got it from paddocks, £65 I think, its not bad as covers under the bonnet, front footwells, bulkhead, seat boxes and gearbox tunnells.
It needs either carpet or rubber mats to protect it in footwells.

havent yet fitted it all, but just under the bonnet and the footwells covered with rubber mats for £12 set from wiikys has made a noticeable difference.
There was a bloke selling matting for £20 a sheet at Landy show, will also get some of this and line the roof and sides of the 110. :D

Well meant to of sorted loads more but have been away and ran out of time again, but if anyone buys the soundproofing kit for Paddocks, use LOADS of glue under the bonnet.
I thought I had used a fair bit (Evostik in a spray can) but its started to fall away.
Guess its due to the absorbancy and fibres on the sound proofing matting.
Used a whole tin today and brushed it on and seems to of covered well.
Also fitted the spare wheel to the bonnet...forgot to take pics.
Back on the case soon!
Still got oil leak (vacuum unit) and master cylinder to replace as well as more internal work in the cab and load space :)

Started to modify the LED lights to operate off the Landy battery rather than the supplied AAA ones.
Knocked up a simple 5V regulator circuit monted in a small box, this will be fitted in the back of the centre console out of site, local switch will turn on the circuit then the LED lights can be simply operated via their press switches.
Alternatively they can all be left turned on so when the regulator is switched on they all light up.
Few more to sort before I get them fitted into the cab and rear space. :D:D

Been a while, but finally wired in the LED lights.
These as previously mentioned run off a 5V regulator circuit so that they can be powered via the Landy battery.
I can switch them all on via one switch in the centre consul but they also each have there own switch by just pressing them.

Fitted 2 in the cab one above each seat and 2 in the load space.
Will also fit an independant strip light in the load space so that this can be switched on when opening the rear door.

Other job done was to replace the lift pump, bargain at £13 including postage.
Note these are the same as a series 11 & 111 and NOT the same as the Defender / 200 TDI units that have the inlets and outlets the wrong way to fit the pipes.
:D
