Slutter/miss when warm

hello folks im just seeking some advice, I bought a 96 300 tdi ES model 115k last week test drove perfect and it looks well looked after solid everywhere. But after buying and driving home once the engine was warm it started to splutter like it was running out of fuel? so i went to the nearest garage and filled up which made no difference, its really weird it only does it under load, I gave it a service the next day air/fuel/oil filters and nothing looked out of place, when its cold it drives beautifully dont miss a beat ive checked the fuel filter that sits under the car behind rear shock and that has already been bypassed so i dont no where to start next any help greatly appreciated.

Slutter hahaha i ment splutter and if it was fuel pump wouldnt it be a constant splutter even when cold? ive looked at the lift pump and the priming lever feels loose no resistance is this normal?
