Sloppy knocking when on or off the gas

Now, it could be wear and tear, but as i accelerate or take my foot off the pedal, theres what feels like a sloppy thump that may be the uni.joints or maybe something in the drive / propshaft?
Any help or things to try/check would be fab

possible "backlash" in the rear diff?? mine does that
