any other suggestions?

Defender 300tdi, clutch has done just over 20K.

Its slipping, but not all the time, I drive up a steep hill home, and same gear/same speed at full throttle some days it will slip, other days it wont.

its almost as though somethings not quite engaging fully, as its intermittent, no sign of contamination, no oil coming from the bell housing, clutch fluid is fine,
Wondering if the slave is sticking and not releasing properly sometimes??

Pop off under bonnet inspection plate (6 screws) and check for push rod free play

Had similar problem on my 2a,found in the end be seal in slave giving up and bits traveling up pipe slowing the return of fluid to master cylinder. In the end it could take a minute for the clutch to completely release when cold . Check Master rod first though.

Check that your clutch is adjusted properly and it isnt resting on the stop in the pedal box as mine was. Just like yours, under acceleration in 4th and 5th it slipped but was fine when setting off. I backed off the stop bolt and it was fine

Cheers, will check the rod, got a slave spare, so might change that anyway.

Wasnt a cheepo cheap, but not high end either, got a National clutch for it, after speaking to local friendly mechanics they came highly reccomended for a decent clutch without breaking the bank..
