MartynV8 is a convicted V8 petrol fan. Nor does he like the L322. But i'll bet my lads TDV8 Sport will blow his petrol V8 into oblivion and use less fuel doing it. :D:D:D

Sport! Now were just being obscene. That kind of talk should be confined to 'anything goes' section!

To be honest I have driven a few tdv8s sport and l322 and they are not that quick, they feel quick when the turbos are boosting but run flat higher up the revs,I recon my 4.6 will give one a good run, keeps giving good power all the way up the revs,

Likewise, they only respond on wind up & bottom out our way too early. That's why I don't like em, no smooth power delivery, same on L322 & D3 I've had.

If your 4.6 had a six speed box like the sport i may agree, but i don't think is would have a chance with it's four speed box to be honest.

A 4.6 p38 has almost same power to weight ratio as a 3.6 tdv8 sport, the new 4.4 tdv8 is a bit higher at almost 128bhp per ton as opposed to around 102 bhp per ton for p38 ,not to bad for a 1960 s design, the p38 benefits because it's lighter by almost half a ton.

4.6 is a second slower to 60 MPH. Dream on.

Less than a second ,nothing a good driver couldn't sort out,

You being a good driver i suppose. You do talk some ****e. If you are talking handling the L322 sport leaves the P38 for dead. Just as the P38 would do with a classic. Well at least one on air suspension would.

If you want 0-60 times a Yamaha R1 is probably the way to go... If its driving a leather armchair around with excellent off road capabilities, then for me, the P38 is mustard.

:D:p

Who was talking about bloody motorbikes. The comparison was a 4.6 P38 and a TDV8 Range rover sport. The sport wins hands down in every respect. Much as i like the P38 you have to be realistic.
