hi guys/girls.

getting a very slight grind/moan when turning left in freelander - it doesn't do it when turning right. Not a low speed but typical 20-30mph when weight is shifted. At first i thought it was transmission auto winding down (due oil change), maybe a disk catching or when power transferred to the rear, although it only happens one side. I thought bearing but it sounds fine on the straight.

Was considering checking brakes out and changing bearing as these are cheap fix for both.

Any ideas?

Yes it very difficult to pin point. seems to be coming from the front but it could be desceptive. Maybe CV. it sounds like a slight grinding, almost like the brakes are catching or similar but certainly a change in "tone" when cornering. I've had bearings go - but they groan when going straight or round corners.

Its an auto so you don't think it could be something to do with the transmission?

dunt fink its transmision or auto box. . . .check lhs front fer a small stone or grit, this is quite common . . . .:)

Tint just a build up of crud on yer disc is it?

Outer edges of em sometimes get a good rusty scale around the edge where the pads dont make contact wi the disc, Usually a good "tap" wi a hammer gets it all off!

thanks for replies - im thinking it might be something like that. Seems to be a bit more noticeable since we've had all this rain.

Fitting new wheel arch liner at weekend (if it ever stops raining) will check out the brakes then.

Actually did notice a bit of a rusty lip whilst washing it at the weekend - could be the cause
