Get a good length of rope and make some knots to feel as you go along as you feed it out the window. Better still find a road with a speed camera to wave at. If flashed your over the recommended speed limit. If you go again and no flash you can work out the average.

You could do what my uncle did, put a gallon in a can then drove till he ran out of fuel made a note of the millage put the gallon can in then drove till he ran out again and noted the millage that then gave him miles per gallon, he did say if he was to do it again he would remember to refill the can before he ran out next time cos it was a bleeding long walk to the next garage. Other than that brim the tank note millage drive couple hundred miles an brim the tank again would give you an idea of fuel use thats how I do it.

@Therustbucket are you saying your P38 doesn’t have the basic trip computer and you are asking how to work out MPG, or it does have a trip computer and you don’t know how to get it to show up on the dash, or it does or should have a trip computer and the display isn’t working?

I don’t know how to put it on the trip computer I’ve pressed all buttons and nothing. Does it have a trip computer.

The manual quite often says “do this, if fitted”, so not much help if you don’t know if it is supposed to be there or not.
