Hi. I've just bought a disco one as a project. I'm gonna start at the sills. What's the best way to go about it? The bottom of the vertical pillar has rotted away. Also do I have to take the back panel off? It's a 3 door and if so what way do I go about taking it off? I'd appricate any help on this please

I did the sills on my 3 door last year.Replaced with box section .I didnt take all the rear panel off just freed off the screws and eased off the sealer to free the bottom of the panel. its an aly panel so if you are careful you can ease it out about 4 or 5 inch.As for the pillar you can buy repair parts think its yrm Discovery 1 Parts - YRM Metal Solutions or easy on panels EASY ON PANELS.
Plenty of info on here about it.
have fun

I likes the idea of them easy on panels, they as easy as the youtube clip makes out?

Got wheel arches and boot to do

Just watched the video. Those easy on ones look like you weld them over the old panel? Is that right, or am I being thick again.

Looked like say for the wheel arches, you mark out the whole panel on top then remark it leaving say a inch of old metal, grind away all the paint and clean old metal up, offer up the new panel from underneath and support it in place then weld around the top from old metal to new (obviously the weld will be about a inch in or so on the new panel, I'd imagine you would then weld the underneath seem too, tidy it all up paint treat and waxol it :)

Think it best to cut old metal/ rust out and treat the surrounding metal.
