Quite a few people have mentioned this in other threads, That when reversing with full lock on it feels like the brakes are coming on.
Not certain on this, but im sure i read somewhere that this was a good way of checking for vcu siezure. Can anyone shed some light cos i also read that this,if ignored, leads to the ird going bang!
Sorry Outlander+ marksurry dont mean to scare u and i could be wrong.

hoping so!!! to be honest mine has done this from day 1 - its enough to stall the auto box from if you try reversing on full lock when its cold - full lock forwards is bad but not as bad

ye sounds normal to me, try pushing it when its on full lock, you will soon see why it tries to stop itself,

:):)

mine dose it,but not to the extent of yours so i aint that worried about it
dont know how old yours is but you,d av thought it would have bust it by now
if it was goin to.
PS had to laugh at the Haynes manual, 5 pages of how the ird works and how to take it to bits but the last pargragh tells u theres no overhaul parts available for it
PPS OUTLANDER, I havent worked out how to insert a quote yet

no worries mate - neither have I:) :) :)

just click the quote button, highlight the bits of the text that you DONT want to text and delete it and then off you go

MMM. never quite looks the same as the pics when all the bits have bin kicked around the floor, and if you leave them over night, OOOHH!! do i need this bit?

My wifes TD4 car has always has a slight binding feel in reverse on full lock, it has done 40k with no problems.

I personally like the black and white photo's where you have to hold the book at several different angles for 20 mins before you realise what the picture is of!

I was told it is normal for Freelanders and is something to do with the differential when different wheels are turning at different speeds. I wouldn't worry about it.
