Hi there
I've bought some and they are a pain to fit. The chassis is pre drilled and they come with rivet bolts. Mine are back in the garage. I'll try again in the spring
Maybe someone knows a better fix? I hope so
 
I fitted a pair and they are bolt on, but do require some captive nuts for the subframe, which come in the kits.

Some hideous folks actually remove them!

Speaking as one of the hideous people......have you felt the weight of those things ? I took mine off : they'd had a dunt and I was going to replace. When I felt the weight and saw the car without them I decided to leave 'em off.
Having taken them off I can tell you with certainty that they are wonderful gatherers of muck and general s****
They are bolt ons : about 8 bolts per side. Get plenty plenty grease on them beacuse when you eventually decide to koin the hideous people they'll come off more easily.
 
I think some styles look really good - a bit like wheels, some look awful and don't suit the car, while others I think do. I had some fitted when I bought my Rangie 5+years ago and have never regretted it - there were original Land Rover accessories including running boards, but I had a pair of chrome / black ones fitted to my black Rangie and they look just right. Garage said they were easy to fit and bolted straight on as they were made for the Rangie. They've lasted over 5 years and have spared the Rangie from a number of car park dings and damage from a piece of rock flying up and hitting the edge of the running board, breaking the end piece, rather than the Rangie's rear side panel. My Rangie doesn't notice the weight and she gets over 20mpg despite being a 4.6!
 
i fitted side steps on my rangy 4 days ago. its not hard to do the only problem is installing the rivet nuts into the holes of the car which can be a pain in the ass but not hard just time consuming. once there on the rest is easy.
 
Ok Thanks for that there are two main types on ebay ive been looking at plain black wHich i believe are the heavy ones and some ali/chrome look ones that i think look wicked im not that botherd about buying oem either i think it just needs them what are your thoughts
 
I agree - the car looks good with them, but, just like wheels, there are some horrible looking ones out there....I reckon just choose what you really like and go for it - it does help shorter or less mobile / older folk get in and out without feeling like they've a mountain to climb, as well!!! I've been really happy with mine for the time I've owned my Rangie and wouldn't have been without them.
 
I got my skirts from the dealer! And they were exactly the same as genuine parts but without the logo.

I forget the price, but the dealer could not be beaten!

They may have been Britpart. And the car looks miles better with them on. not to mention we can all get in the car, including the kids easier.
 
Hardest part will be fitting the rivnuts

just fitted a dog guard to mine which needed them

get or borrow a good tool as they need some umph to get them fitted,
Top tip just make sure you have the rivnut seat correctly as once you have pulled it, then you are stuffed if it is not correct:frown:

it was the first one above my head in the dark was my excuse, figured it was only a dog guard so no weight, so dont do that with the steps

Been thinking about some for mine, missus finds it a struggle if she is wearing a skirt.
sidesteps = missus in skirt :D:D:banana:
 
THANKS needs a clean tho i got mine from my local automotive supplies i was looking through his mods cataloge and there was a few things in it for a RR i will call in and get the details for you he's not open now till tuesday
you mite see them better on the pics in my album
