Can those with side steps give me some advice - most of the ones I've seen are metal - they just look like they will be ultra slippery and dangerous when wet. Is that the case or not? I prefer the look of metal ones, but was wondering if it was best to get rubber topped ones for safety!

freelander originals are the dogs dangles as they taper in were you get in and out the car,you can still get a bit on your trousers though,s/steel sides with black tops with rubbers in them awesome :D best accessorie the for the hippo in my book

I find the tube type too slippy as i had them on another motor 4x4 [well more like a tractor and it twas an l r] boy i'm gonna get stick for that, however just my opinion found a combination grid step with a small tube on the outside twas the dogs, but a lot on the market, down too ya own taste really. . .:)

Cool ok - which stainless steel sides with black tops with rubber are you referring to? i've been looking on ebay but there's so many I'm just trying to suss which would be best!

I got them and have had no probs with them - dont find em slippy as your feet tend to naturally land on the flat bit. I was giging lifts to a load of my drunken mates after the match yesterday and even copious amounts of beer combined with them getting out of 3 door couldnt make em slip over;-)

I had the original Land Rover side steps on mine, aluminium with black plastic end caps. Never used them to get in or out of the vehicle, just for cleening the roof. Tapered steps I never saw the point of, more a cill protector than step. Sorry all you tapered step fans ;)

Hi guys...............
Been away for a few weeks.thats the benefit of retirement!!!!!!!!
I fitted 'polished stainless steel steps' and they are definitely not slippery.
But then again, just like Marksurry, I only use them to reach when washing the roof.
Just like the so called 'light grills' purely cosmetic:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Welcome back Harvester...well thanks guys!!!!:p:p
