My Land Rover series 3 88's side sliding windows (Not the door ones) has a square Alluminium frame with rivets all the way round. Could the same Window be converted to a rubber window frame? I reckon it would look much more tidy. And If so what would I need? If its a big expensive job Ill probably leave well alone but would appreciate any info please?

A proper station wagon has a square opening with a strengthing frame spot welded behind (I think) which holds the channels/runners. It would be tricky to change as it has those pieces and also square corners, rubber mount ones have rounded corners.

Solid side panels are very cheap and plentiful on eBay, much easier to start with those.

Do you think that you will ever open them ? I never open my series 3 side windows and I am thinking about just sealing them with mastic to tidy up the looks.
