Installed a new central console and double din unit using 300tdi loom.

bad new is that side lights and engine not starting now although can hear the relay switch clicking. Main beam and other electrics work and also, fuses and battery all look good. Any obvious places to check / investigate (eg specific earth or wiring) as may have dislodged a connection or two pushing radio and switch cables back into the loom ?

Ps anyone have a wiring 'colour' mapping table for old 300TI loom wires / switches into TD5 switches with 5 pins including rear heated screen, wipers, wash and fog lamp please ?

Thanks in advance !

I am fairly sure if memory serves that the td5 switches are all a switched earth which the 300tdi is not so it would need some more advanced wiring than just swapping the switches over and connecting the wires the same way they are currently. It is discussed here on my thread regarding fitting additional lights to a td5: LINK. Below is how the td5 switch is wired for the fog light so you would need to connect the positives where the current switch is to be permanently live, and the run additional earths and indicator wires from the relay back to the td5 style switch.

All the wirirng colours for 300tdi can be found here: LINK along with pictures of the connectors etc and further details of the loom.

Thanks. I suspected there was a need for additional wiring (eg earth) but just wanted to confirm on this forum.

Yes, I was going to say that the wiring diagrams on LRWorkshop.com are very handy. I usually print the relevant page out and take it out with me to work on the car, even though I possess an official electrical manual. But @dag019 beat me to it. And @mystery of course is indefatigable in his posting of wiring diagrams!

Thank you both. In summary I need to transform C381 to C072 for the rear heated window. Only the white/green trace can be used, so I need to splice an earth, 12v feed and illuminator wire to make up the rest of the pins ?

I think you need all new wires running from the relay if you want to use a td5 switch. The current switch wires cannot be used as they are on the positive side of the circuit and just need permanently connecting. the relay earth needs running back to your td5 switch, the relay live needs running back to your td5 switch, and then need a good earth cable and dash illumination run to your td5 switch.
