Hello everyone,
Yesterday, during ace system testing i found out that one of the bushs (RBX101740) is broken. I would like to know if you have any experience with replacing it? Would i need a press or any other special tool for this job. Proper link will be grate
 
I'd get him out from your suspension as quick as poss!

I wish to do that as soon as possible but the question is if i can do it by myself or go to mechanic. I don't have a press or any other spacial tool

I have no idea not having anything other than Disco 1s and a 2 with springs!

youd be looking for free play forward/back not movement
 
U r right, the movement is to the sides only but it feels that it is too easy, too freely. The actuator itself is bran new
 
Hi I have just done my front one, you will need an 18 mm through socket, and make a special tool to fit the ram end as its slotted, see photo, and you will need a set of jubilee clip crimping pliers, and you have to take off anti roll bar completely, as you cant get the bolt out as it hits the chassis, and it wont go back in the other way round tried that as it hits the chassis, OK so far

I made my tool its bit long but did the job it 12mm steel with a 5mm slot in the end I cut with a cutting disc the files out square, I made a short socket and handle but my tool would not go through and being an impact socket I could not drill it out, then remembered I had a set of Halford through sockets, were the ratched grips on the out side of the socket but had already bought a 18mm extra deep to make tool No 2

So without disconnecting the ACE hoses , give the end nut a good sock with penetrating, oil, remove the dust cover, disconnect the drop king and remove it it will be in the way, now put your through 18mm socket on the insert you slot tool hold with a suitable spanner/ socket, don't go for a full turn keep working it back and forth, adding oil as you go as like mine they may have grown in a bit, as I finally got to the end the ram started to turn, to avoid damage I cut a section of copper pipe to fit the ram and griped the ram with mole grips

now unbolt the anti-roll bar on the ram side and allow it to drop so you can remove the mount bolt,now tie up the ram to stop it pulling on the hoses, remove the roll bar fully ,
I also made the worked on the slot tool to get a good fit

I knocked out the centre of the mount, them threaded a hacksaw through and cut the mount outer sleeve, the finished off peeling it out with a chisel, then cleaned up the hole with emery paper, it took my a few hours to get it out so I was no looking forward to putting in the new one

I uses threaded bar an 2 large socket to push it in,but so as not to damnaged the rubber seal I took it off on the side I pushed it in

I assembled the stuff I needed threaded bar big washers, spanner etc. tested it would all go through, before I started I put the new mount in my freezer for 24 hours and clamped the roll bar in my vice then using a plumbers blow torch I warmed up the mount its to go in, took it out the freezes assembled it ........and it when straight in in minutes I was to say the least very relived the I refitted the mount rubber seal

when you go to put it back, fit the ram dust cover don't crimp the big clip, only do the small one on the ram as this clip goes into the ram end mount , but the roll bar on stands, fit the
ACE ram to the roll bar making sure it goes back as it came off as the bolt is to long to fit the other way , if the ram in short the arm it fits into will move so with the ram fully extended out move the pivot arm and put the rams threaded end into it mount, put the nut on loosely, now fit the roll bar leave the bolt loose, now tight up the ram end nut using the tools, you may find the dust cover will turn at this point, once it tight fit the large clip and tighten it with the clip pliers continue to re fit the roll bar and drop links


so 1 done, I still need to do the back one, maybe next week
