Shackle bolt rusted

Trying to fit parabolics to my series IIa, the front shackle bolt of the rear spring is rusted to the bush tube,

Before i try to saw threw it, which is tuff cos the blade is hitting the bush insert not the bolt

Would it help to heat it up, or anything else, any ideas welcome.

is it better to drill the bolt out, a hacksaw blade will take an age.

Just looking for any bright ideas, got wet fed up, not looking forward to trying again tomorrow,

This may be radicle, but it it worth just F$$n belting it in the hope it will shift the bush too? If it's that bad the bush has to be replaced too and it may save you the hassle of finding a drift for the bush!

Guys , give me more hope, the new para's have bushes in so the old 1ns dont matter but just hit it ?? can i bend the mounting ?

Burn the bush out then use an hacksaw to cut thru the metal sleeve.

Use an angle grinder to cut off the bolt head and the nut. Then drill into the shank of the bolt until it clears the chassis or get hold of a reciprocating electric or air saw to cut through both bolt and sleeve.


One thing is for sure I bet you put loads of copperslip on the new bolts!!!

Bugger me that was tuff, hack saw on some bolts, drilled 2 out. Un bolted the hanger from the body for 1 front spring and finished off in the shed.

Yup used losts a grease,

Leasons,

spent to long trying to undoo bolts that wer never gona move, should have hacksawed sooner.

Need a better jack, and axle stands, it fell off 1nc and i did find myself wrenching bolts and worrying about getting scwished.

And lastly, never do it again
