Several issues, getting fed up with chasing them now! help!

I've been working through the mechanical issues on my 110 200TDI (92 on a J, genuine Defender TDI).

Anyway there's a few issues I'm banging my head against.

A bit of background, bought end of December with a genuine 73k on. Once home I realised it had a few more issues than first thought.

Anyway so far I have had a reconditioned gearbox fitted, new front & rear props, new discs, pads and calipers and wheel bearings (front), full fluid service, Inc all diffs, swivels, etc, front output flange and bearing replaced on tfr box.

Anyway after all that the issues I'm stuck with I'm stumped about.

At 45mph onwards I'm getting a noticeable vibration mostly under load, as far as I can tell there's now very little play in the drivetrain, any ideas? As the props are new I'm assuming they are ok...

Also today when doing the discs, when I removed the nsf bearing cover it seemed full of either diff oil or swivel oil and very little wheel bearing grease, it wasn't like this on the OSF, any ideas, seems to be coming out of the splined drive shaft thingy?

And I still have a pulsating brake pedal, I assume it's an ovaled rear drum as it's all new up front?

All diff fluids were dirty but no metal particles in them or anything of note, the nsf swivel had hardly anything in it however.

Any help much appreciated as I'm losing faith now! Failing that can anyone recommend a good Landrover specialist in Wiltshire?
 
It can be friustrating finding a cause of noise or vibration. Don't give up hope though.
Is it a vibration you can feel or more of a noise. I think I would get the pulsing brake pedal sorted just in case thats near the cause.
I had a noise for ages. I replaced everything I could think of. Uj's, wheel bearings, tyres balanced even replaced a diff. In the end it turned out to be my roof rack making all the noise. So don't rule out the simple stuff also.
Can you get a general location of the noise?
 
No this is a Vibration through the truck, it starts at about 45mph and comes and goes then onwards, mainly under load. It reduces massively when I step off the power.

There are two oil seals per side, one that fits into the stub axle (FTC840 or FTC3145 depending on chassis no.) and one that fits between the axle and the ball (571718) That would be where I'd start although fitting is a ball ache.
 
How old are your tyres as these can show some very strange faults when old, gave a hell of a vibration and steering shake or the freelander. Also has the front prop been fitted the right way round? I know for the td5s the sliding joint goes towards the tbox but I think it could be different on the TDI,s. If I was you I would run it up on a lift to try and identify the fault, save changing lots of parts.
 
Little update.

The vibration is gone :D :D :D

Took it back to Bristol Transmissions (who recon'd the gearbox) they checked everything over, all ok, so put the original front prop back on (which tbh doesn't look very old anyway and the UJ's are all ok) and VOILA! Vibration free truck. Feels/drives like a different vehicle now!

So relieved, kinda run out of money to spend on it for now!

So the new Prop will be sent back to Paddocks for a refund as its clearly faulty/imbalanced.

So just the rear brakes to do, and when it leaks bad enough to come out the hub, the NSF hub/swivel seals

And Bristol Transmissions have given fantastic service so far, they got it straight back in, and even swapped the props back for free (even though I supplied the part). I'd deffo reccomend them for any gearbox/transfer box/diff work. So a big thumbs up from me for them :D

Sounds like the cyclinder is leaking easy enough to replace. It won't leak out of the rear hub, Do you mean leaking out the rear drum? Take off the drum and have look inside, then you can see if it's a brake line or the cyclinder that expands the pads in the drum.

Actually Toyota are more plentiful....... You don't see defenders of the news being driven there
