4.6HSE V8 engine with A/C

Is it necessary to remove the viscous fan to get new drive belt on, or can it be threaded around the fan to get it onto the pulleys, likewise can the reverse be done withthe old belt or shopuld I just cut it off. Does belt tensioner need any special tool to move it or will a socket spanner do the job?

Don't need to remove anything - just get a spanner on the tensioner bolt and take the tension off , belt will then slip off
Just remember how it fits round the pulleys for putting the new one on ! - I made a sketch before taking old one off
Easy job, only takes five minutes

Don't need to bother with either.

Logically it can only fit one way. As long as the back of the belt is againt the jockey pulleys and the inside of the belt is on the pulleys that need driving. It only takes a minute to figure out
