Hey everyone,

OK, I am putting my total pride and joy up for sale as I need the money for savings towards a house deposit.

The vehicle has had huge amounts of money spend on it in both its current and previous ownerships. I have spent what ever was required and more in both maintenence and modifications and have tried to list the details below;

It was originally a 1988 model year but has had more than 75% new parts hence being registered as a "Q" plate. It has;

Body wise
- Galvanized chassis
- Replaced body (I believe it was 2004/5 according to previous owner)
- Full external roll cage
- Tree sliders
- Rock sliders
- Fuel tank guard
- Steering guard
- Sump guard
- Front diff guard
- 16" 5 spoke steel wheels
- Insa Turbo tyres 265/75/R16
- Front and rear winches
- Front and rear winch bumpers
- Front nudge bars
- Front spot lights
- Relocated exhaust
- Snorkel
- Lockable storage box in the rear bed
- Rear mounted waffle boards
- Rear mounted high lift jack
- Rear mounted spare wheel
- Chequer plating
- Bush guards
- Bed liner

Interior;
- Half leather heated seats
- Centre cubby
- Smaller steering wheel
- Blue LED backlit dials

Engine;
- 300tdi unit
- Allsport alloy intercooler
- Allsport radiator
- Silicon piping
- Straight through exhaust

Suspension;
- Uprated coils and dampers
- Relocated suspension mounts
- Dislocation cones
- Uprated training arms
- Polybushes

Drivetrain;
- 2006 Defender axles
- GKN final drive

Brakes;
- Fronts have 4 pot calipers
- Rears are uprated to discs
- Extended and braided brake hoses

Things I've had done in my ownership;
- 4 x cage mounted front spot lights
- 2 x cage mounted rear spot lights
- Straight through exhaust
- Full service including all filters
- Cambelt change
- Brake and clutch fluid change
- Half shafts
- Diff and gear box oil change
- Undersealed
- New brake servo
- New wheel bearing on OSF
- New brake pads (rear)
- New horn
- Waterproof seat covers
- New front lamps
- New breathers for cambelt housing

It also has road tax until September 2012, a valid MOT (I will check dates) and will come with various additional items such as recovery straps, strops and a snatch block. I also have the V5 and a folder full of history and receipts.

The vehicle has proven itself time and again at both off road pay and play days and in green laning expeditions - I've only ever been recovered once and have done a lot of recovering of others!

When I say I love this car I mean it, it will be very difficult to part with. With this in mind please genuine equiries only - TIME WASTERS WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED. Viewings can be arranged, contact by email is preferred but feel free to text or call with any questions you might have - I'm sure I've left some details out!

I'm asking for £8995. Interested in a possible part exchange with a BMW 323/5/8 E36 Tourer

dont understand why its now a Q plate, loads of people change parts but dont have to change vehicle regisrtiation, has it been stolen recovered?

No, not so far as I'm aware. I'd imagine it was replacing the chassis and the body, perhaps identification numbers, but to my knowledge it's not stolen and recovered.

Forgot to mention this has a CB radio and split charge battery system. Soon to have new alternator and drive belt plus new battery too!

I don't know I'm afraid, it was fitted before I bought it. Before the previous owner too in fact.

I will look through the history and see if I can find some information on it :)

The genuine reason behind the "Q" plate is that more than 75% of the parts were replaced, including the chassis (which is a galvanized replacement). From what I understand if more than a certain amount of the original vehicle is replaced with new/newer parts then its original plate designation won't apply anymore. In the case of my Defender the majority has been upgraded/updated and so it was given a "Q" plate.

I wouldn't let it put you off though, I've had no problems insuring it whatsoever and have never had any other issues in regards to taxing/driving it on the road either. I quite like it actually!

Would you mind me asking why that puts you off it?

Q plates aren't worth as much. And there are plenty of people that change alot of things inc chassis and don't convert it to a Q plate.

Personally I don't like Q plate cars as it means someone has built it, and you have to ask yourself was it build by a man with a spanner or a spanner with a hammer!!

True but you show me a landy of this vintage that hasn't been messed with. If its been Q plated in recent years it should have passed a SVA or whatever they call it now which is by all accounts quite strict. So its likley to have been built better than you think.

This MAY be true but do they really test every bolt??
I would rather find a rusty seized sold bolt that will snap when you undo it than a rounded off bolt that you can't undo.

This is my views but understand evey1 is different.

The op's truck looks very well build but untill close inspection you never know.

I agree but again true of any s/h landy or indeed any s/h car as most have been fiddled with at some point in their life.

SVA a good few years ago was feckin strict, A westfield that I did the smallest ammount of work on ever failed on ......................

Switch gear. the corners were too sharp. No I'm not kidding either. The switches that were brought from a Halfrauds or similar were deemed to have too sharp a corners so they had to be filed down to a radius of 3 or 4mm somthing stupid like that. They did go over the kit car really really well in their defence. I guess tho they are human and could miss somthing.

But hey ho I will send this link out to some mates I think one is looking for a sorted motor for trialling ion the next couple of months
