Welcome back, I am sorry about the downtime that we have just experienced.
Plenty server problems and not enough help from our datacentre. If any of you know a decent datacentre in the UK please let me know, as we have to move!

Have fun!

well, I work as a linux systems engineer for a company called Fasthosts in Gloucester. We sell dedicated servers. Have a look if you want :)

we don't do co-location though if that's what you need.

Vivaciti may be able to help
Vivaciti

Unlike other service providers they do not bull**** you about problems or try to lie there way out of it.

Here Roy your not in hiding invisible mode-can we take that as a one off or regular occurrence.

What upload and download speed does lz need, also what bandwidth are you consuming?

Ive used Uk Dedicated for 8 years and in all thoses years I have experianced downtime twice one lasted 3 hours and another 10 minutes. I use them a my reseller service and run 6 sites from there including one e-commerce. Not sure if it will help as im not sure on your current usage.
Back up is second to none in my opinon; the missus says Ive always got one :D

Depending on what your spending and requirements you could build and run a linux desktop lamp server and usermin and webmin for gui control. similar to c panel

We use about 1000 gig outgoing bandwidth a month, throughput 22Mbps at peak times. Currently on an octo core server with SAS 15k drives in raid 10 configuration.

I'm going to visit a datacentre in Manchester next week where I can hopefully rent a quarter rack and then seperate web and database servers. Having access to the DC should speed up recovery times when things go pear shaped, in theory.

Jesus you created a MONSTER, that can't be cheap per month.
