Ok, Hi i am ben, I have introduced myself in the newbe section ;-)
I have the following problem on my Rangy and no one here ( Prague) can help me it seems.. so maybe one of you have an idea!?
Problem:
Car: Range Rover L322 4.4 Liter 2004.
In the winter I had ocasionally the following: the car seems to block via ESP one wheel. Driving wasn´t possible, after approx. 50 meters, the ABS warning light came on, aursusp. inactive hdc etc,blablabla and driving was fine except no abs.
SO: I removed , because diagnosis said so, the right rear abs sensor, after removing ( destroying) we saw, that the abs ring wasnt moving...
I bought a part used ( second hand) driveshaft with hub and abs ring. The old abs ring has expanded and was rotten/corroded into the housing.
The new drifeshaft is installed, the ring turns free, and the abs sensor is fitted... result:
THE SAME! the rear right wheel is braked by the ESP/ DSC.... the light is flickering in th edashboard until the ABS red and yellow lights are on and system is deactivated,
The DIAGNOSES shows: THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL SENSOR show nearly 100% more speed that the other 3 wheels!!!
To eleminate the cause by the ECU I made from old abs sensors 2 cabels with proper plugs and cross connected the rear sensors.
So right sensor delivers signal to left in going channel on ecu and left sensor ist delivering into right ingoing signal.
My thoughts to this: if the ECU is faulty it mus tsend signal to valve block and block again the left wheel.
RESUT: IT DOESN`T ! it was now braking the LEFT wheel via DSC/ESP.
So the diagnisis showed the left wheel had now 100% more speed...
WHAT CAN CAUSE 100% higher speed signal?? the sensor is original part, the distance between snsor and ring was a little bit to much: the gap has been 2,5 mm, I adjusted it with removing some plastic material, no it has the proper 0.8 - 1mm ABS gap. BUT the signal is still 100% more..
What makes me confuse ist the fact that I had the smilar problem BEFORE changing the driveshaft and the sensor...
has anybody an idea, what can produce this fault?
