Series III petrol starts then dies

Hi All,

My series iii 2.25 petrol starts but then dies after a few seconds. I have to leave it a minute or so before it will start again... I've replaced the fuel pump and the carb and it still does it.. Anybody got any ideas?

coil ? ass. no fuel blockage

Okay. Haven't replaced the coil. How would I check for air in the fuel line?

perished fuel lines etc, only thinking that as it starts and runs on the second attempt as if its had to expel some air from the lines

? was it ok before or is it rebuild or what . just for starting point

Okay.. Should have said that it starts and dies, starts and dies and never runs for more then a few seconds

Got it!! Thanks very much everyone.. Sometimes just talking about things makes the brain work properly. The fuel pick up in the tank looked okay but was blocked?!? blast of air and a good clean has sorted it out. Thanks again for your suggestions!!
