Hello all.
I've recently inherited my dad's series I, and I am on a mission to restore it to its former glory. However, I currently have very little mechanical knowledge! (I am, however, hell-bent on learning) I do have a long-suffering friend who is a mechanic, but I thought I would start this thread, and keep it ongoing throughout my restoration, so I can both pick the brains of all you people, and keep you all updated on the progress from time to time....
Currently, the landy is in storage, as I had to move it pdq before it was scrapped (!) by my mum who wanted it off the driveway. However, I have just managed to secure an area to work on it and store it, so I will shortly be moving it there so the epic can begin in earnest!
Which brings me to my first question. When I moved the landy off the driveway (where it had been sitting for over 10 years) it was discovered, predictably, that the tyres were in need of replacement. We hoiked it onto the back of the transporter regardless, using a winch, but it was a major mission, and I want to replace the tyres before moving it again. What tyres should I buy, and where from?
I look forward to your wisdom.
