well in the log book for the car it has this number for the car and it says it is a 2.8. but you never know. how can i find out. is there a company that will be able to tell me??

the dissy is on the back of the engine. i know that it is a 2.8 lt colonge.
but i am after what year my engine was built and what it came out of so that i can get parts for it alot easyer in the future

i recon as its a carb it came out of a granada , if you can borrow or buy a manual , it should tell you what the engine code is , that will tell you the year ,

Yup, the 2.8 will be from a Granada GL probably as the Ghias were mostly EFi motors (like the Crapi 2.8). Get the right exhaust and it really howls between 5 and 6k rpm :D

Just checking the anals of history, and yes, the 3l is the ubiquitous Essex V6 as used by TVR and Marcos, the Cologne was fitted to Grannies, Crapi 2.8i and later developments went into the Sierra XR4i and XR4x4. The only carbuerettored versions were fitted to the Grannie mk II from 1977 onwards. Later models from about 1982ish were all fitted with Fuel Injection, so that should narrow down your search when looking for parts. The Cologne engine was in production right up until 1995, so there are plenty around.

Have you tried Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre?

There were several vehicles using this engine, but any decent auto factors will come up with the right parts .
How do think Kit Cars exist?>
Gaydon should be able to help.
Have you tried emailing all or some of the vehicle clubs whose vehicles used
the engine in question.

no i have not tryed any of the clubs as yet. i did not know where to start. but now i have a few ideas thanks to everyones replys.
