I'm putting it on the bonnet anyway, I don't have fat tyres and I've got a bonnet with the wheel sized dip in it. There is a u bolt type thing on it and some straps. it does not look anything like the pie dish wheel holders every other series 3 seems to have. Does anyone know how you use this type? I don't see any way to bolt it down...

carrier can be tailgate mounted if needed,
I just got a tailgate with one bodged on this week

i suggest getting a swing away carrier, lifting the bonnet is not easy with a wheel on even if they do look good, and internal takes up a lot of space

I've had mine on the bonnet since I got it and have just moved to a swing-away. Much nicer for bonet lifting as said and it handles much more nicely when its unloaded too. It used to kick its heels up going over bumps but not now, much more relaxed ride.

Any one ever put it on the roof above the driver/passenger or is it tooooo heavy.
I used to have mine bolted to the roofrack on the 110:)

i have a plan that involves utilising the fact mine is a rag top and making an aframe mounted on the rear tub with box section and a 3 mm thick plate underneath the tub galvanising strip where i will be mounting the a frame so i dont really loose any load space (loose enough with my lpg tank) i dont have a rear door and i dont want it on the bonnet cause i know how bluddy heavey 235s are when the bonnet falls on your head

Ha ha

Well done.

I like them on the bonnet. But also on a swing away wheel carrier.

Seeing forward is over rated in my opinion. I always managed on my 11A. Never hit anyone or anything.....I think :~
