Series 3 power steering dilemma

Sounds more & more like a discovery 1 by what you describe. Regarding the column, could I not just remove the worm drive box and attach a Uj to the end of the column, then couple it up to which ever steering box I use? (I have a small machine shop at home, so am able to fabricate bits n bobs)
No….
If you remove the worm box that’s going to be a long shaft & UJs to connect to the new power steering.

check the splines on the top of a series & early landrover(about 85/86) you never know they may be the same so you can use the old style steering wheel.

If it was that easy we would all have power steering..lol...
Have a look on here for a thread fitting a Corsa electric system think it was by citisankane...
 
Ah right, ok I see. Mmm, so looks like I'm down to the P38 option or electric corsa column. I guess I could hedge my bets & order a new chassis from richards & ask them to include the p38 box mounting plate. Then at least it's there if I want to use it, or if I go the electric route then it would just be redundant. Nothing else needs modding for the P38 option?
 
Theres still Haystee and Steve Parker doing bolt on kits that dont need fabrication work...

My thoughts exactly - and they are proven .. I.E. they are a known quantity and will almost certainly work without issue ..

When I restore my SIIA, it'll get the P38 type PAS, as I already have the box :)
 
Couldn't afford that lot now. I went the Heystee route some 15+ years back. Did Heystee discs with it too. Pricey but quick and easy. Works well enough.

Won't cure iffy steering, will power the play as well! I was worried about munching at my galv chassis, and the P38 was not really a 'thing' at the time. As it is, Heystee is fine.
