Hi All

I have recently put a 2.5 N/A diesel engine into my series 3 using the standard series 3 gearbox and diffs.

This has resulted in good power in 1st/2nd/3rd but go into 4th and i might as well turn her off totally GUTLESS there is no power she get to 45 mph /50mph thats it foot to the floor.

I have be told this can be cured by change the diffs to range rover one, i have been offered a couple of these for around £100 for the pair but i only want to buy them if they will help.

Will these diffs help ??? has anyone had the same problem ???

Many thanks chris

RR diffs will give you taller gearing in all gears so if your problem is not enough power it won't help. However if your engine is revving flat out in top they should give you a bit more top end at the expense of acceleration.

Got them in mine, the taller gearing makes it more driveable on the road, the top end is improved and its quieter than it would be at speed.

I have whole range rover axles though, not just the diffs. The acceleration seems good on mine as well although I'm not comparing it to the same landy with the old axles, but to another landy - could be a whole host of variables there.

I have experienced power problems witha 2.5 NA and as said the diffs won't help you there. get the power issues sorted out first.

I've got a 2n1/4 dieseseal in me lightweight and even with overdrive 50 was flat out and so so loud. So in with a pair of Rangie diffs and now it's liveable with. I've got the toy town wheels and tyres on it to keep it nearly original (apart from the motor) so if you've got LWB tyres and rims this should help. Biggest difference was taking off the hard top. This cut the noise loads.Warning... Pain in arse filling the rear axle. I warmed up the EP90 and poured it in through the breather. ZZZZZZZ

Before you get the Diffs if you do.. make sure you can change the rear diff. The ring of nuts must face forward. I'm led to believe that some LWB's 3's had a tougher axle made by Salisbury and the diffs do not swop..?

I have a pair of these diffs that you can have for a lot less than 100 quid. Where abouts are you?
