Hi all
I'm brand new to this forum, and I hope someone out there can help me.
I recently squired a series 2a landrover which had a daihtsu 2.8 Diesel engine fitted.
It won't start. When key turned there's no click from alternator. There's power at battery and starter motor. The lights work but wipers, horn etc don't. I got it towed and jump started it and it ran fine.
Can anyone give me any advice on what to check for and possible solutions to my problem???
Thanks

hey,
Check wirings as they might be lose... if they are ok it could be that the starter motor might be shot or stuck . Try taping (not violent) the starter with a piece of wood cause it may unstuck it ..

Short the solenoid contacts to see if the starter turns. If it does then theres a problem at the ignition switch. The fact that there's no wipers etc could be just a fuse has - check and reseat them all.

If it doesn't turn then you need a new solenoid and have a separate electric problem with the wipers etc.

Tried tapping the solenoid, no difference. You mention short the solenoid, is that short across the + and - terminals on the main block ???

short a big screwdriver across the 2 big copper nut n bolt connections on the solenoid or just put a jumplead from + on battery to the + connector on the starter motor if it seems sluggish or struggling get a new starter if it spins fine nice and lively get a new solenoid

hope this helps :D:D

Sounds like ignition switch or fuse......lights are wired direct to battery but wipers and solenoid trigger (the thin wire) are through the ignition.
