In the middle of March I started the renovation of our Series 2a (1968) and tried to focus of the big issues surrounding chassis (which is ok) drive train and suspension. Jobs done
Really good project if anyone needs any help on the above jobs please shout!! Had great help from my daughters as really turned in a family project!!!! took around 6-7 weeks but gave 100% gas
Just waiting for a track rod and ball joints then we can start the commisioning - and then try getting through the tough Austrian import test!
- Swivels
- Front Half shaft Bearings
- Handbrake seal
- New Springs all round
- New dampers
- New Brake cylinders (rear)
- Axles Tubes renovated and Painted
- Diffs out and inspected
- Diff Pinions seals changed
- New Windscreens
- New Side rubbers (very hard)
- Painted (2k by hand - including roof off etc)
- All bolts cut off and replaced with A2 Stainless (wings Tub crossmembers)
- Radiator repaired
- Handbrake Overhauled
- New rear half shafts and drive members
- Welding to chassis, Radiator cowl
- Painting all axles, hubs, and as much chassis as we can
- Repair both wing front light (side and indicator support)
- New rear door skin and repair sections
- New lights all round
- etc etc etc
