does anyone know how to connect a series 2a slave cylinder to a series 3 master cylinder? the series 2a has narrower hole in slave cylinder than series 3, is there some sort of adapter out there? phoned landy specialists and been to hydrolic hose firm with no luck.

i have had a s111 with a s11a gearbox fitted but it was a mid 70s s111 which used the same master cylinder as the later s11a ( none servo ) so i didn't have a problem but if yours is a later s111 ( with servo ) you may need to get the right flexi pipe to suit the master cylinder and steel pipe to the slave cylinder as the later master cylinder is metric thread i think and the steel pipe going to the master cylinder is imperial thread :)

i am not sure if you could get away with fitting a late s111 front flexi brake pipe as one end is metric and the other end is imperial but it may depend on year as i think all very late models went completly metric so would guess 80-81 MY as after that they went fully metric, hope this helps.

i may be missing something here but the thread title has the word GEARBOX in it so all you folks going on about BRAKES are completely off topic

all i can remember off the top of my head is that the clutch actuating mech' is under the drivers side footwell in a 2/2a and the S3 is under the passenger side, this much indicates a longer pipe for the S3

as to whether the threads or ends are different i have no idea
sorry

thanks for the comments, its a 68 gearbox in a 82 series, tried everywhere i can think of to get a flexi with different ends on, ive done a tempory fix by getting a longer adjuster bar made and using the series 3 slave cylinder which works ok,

going by memory here so bear with me

from the master cylinder there's a solid pipe which connects to the flexi pipe, which in turn screws into the slave cylinder (yes/no ?? )

if i'm correct i'd have cut the original solid pipe to the required length to reach the flexi pipe

and then fitted the correct threaded ferrule onto the solid pipe and flared it as required

that way no need to look for a special one off flexi pipe

spot on. but that is beyond my abillity, where could i get the bits? can i buy a flaring thingy?

tool can be bought from machine mart or possibly one of your local motor factors

ferrule to suit can probably be bought from the motor factor, personally i'd take the flexi pipe with me to ensure i got the correct thread ferrule
