Hi all
Getting very close to being able to MOT my series 2a and register it for road use (not been on the road since leaving the military in 2000)

Struggling to bleed the brakes though after replacing all wheel cylinders, shoes and drums.

The brake / clutch reservoir seems to have an inner and outer section, but can anyone explain why? the inner section seems to run dry sometimes, whilst there is still loads of fluid in the outer bit, so i'm wondering if just the inner section is for brakes? and if I'm introducing air in the system by not keeping this bit topped up all the time

Hope to meet some of you soon once its finally road worthy and has number plates

Cheers
Alex

That is the early bean can resevoir one part is clutch other is brakes the pipes connected at side and base should got to clutch master and brake master easy to tell which when you follow the pipe.

Thanks, good point - I'll check where the pipes go

It seems like if the inner bit is for brakes, then the amount of fluid it holds is really quite small, so i'll make sure I top it up after trying to bleed each corner to avoid sucking air in.

Small inner part is for clutch.

I bet thats arse about face, brakes way more important than clutch
If an 88 they bleed up real easy, 109 harder

I’ve checked, and the line at the base of the reservoir seems to serve the master cylinder on the left of the bulkhead, which I’m pretty sure is brakes. That would mean the inner part of reservoir links to brakes, which seems odd - could it be plumbed in incorrectly?

Quite easily. Just a matter of how you bend the pipes, or how you make them up.
Quite possible you can correct that using existing parts, or a couple of new pipes at worst.

I’ll look into swapping them over then - does look like clutch should be the line at the base of the reservoir, and brake at the side, unlike on mine.

Cheers
