Looking at a project 2a for a friend, its a 2.25 petrol, chassis is gone along with bulkhead and exhaust. body isn't rotten, engine turns but doesn't run. what would you expect some one to be asking for a project like this?

£250 max. New chassis and bulkhead will cost £1500+, plus time, parts, engine overhall etc.

id is worth £500 minimum if it were legal to sell on ebay ;)

sell the lot on ebay legally u will get 500 all day long

even a basket case series 3 is £500 of anyones money i would say u will get 500 -700

Cheers Steve

Bought mine in Dec 2012,£450 delivered to my house by seller.Chassis gone but good bulkhead and engine good runner (47k miles).£250 sounds about right in comparison>

Think your over estimating a bit there... (story of your life? ;))

I got my Series 2a, fully running, semi-solid, tax exempt, with a full MOT for £700 and that wasn't an amazing, purely by chance bargain of the year. It was just an eBay buy (which happened to be 10 minutes from my house at the time!)

A rotten scrap series is worth £250 tops. One's going for £500 normally run and are in bad but ok condition.

if it was legal im sure a tax exempt series 2a id is worth 500 notes on ebay, i will stand by that all day long, stick it on ebay complete and make point it is tax exempt and see what it gets, i recently sold a total basket case that collapsed in half when we moved it but was tax and now mot exempt, needed new bodywork and chassis.. advert went on ebay needeing total restoration for 650 in two catagories and sold twice?? in under 40 minutes... ebay glitch and one buyer was
really gutted

£250??? thats barely above a years tax??

that said u can get ebay bargains... my s3 station wagon, 13 months mot, taxd exempt so already saved 200+ was only £2500.... and its sat on a galvanised hd chassis with a totally rebuilt 2.25diesel , new rad n alternator so there are always bargains to be had

cheers steve

no he looked an honest chap , assured me he was rebuilding ... surely people dont do such things?? no wonder they fetch so much ...

cheers steve

Even a couple of tax exempt TDCi's knocking about thanks to the V5's

People buy the series, weigh them in or break them then use the V5's to make a new vehicle tax exempt

I know you will get lowball figures here, but i'm not even sure if I would want it for free.

It's the cost of sorting out the bulkhead, chassis, engine and the rest is probably shagged.

Well, it would work out cheaper to buy a one in a better state with more working/serviceable parts.
