Series 2A 1964 SWB...Advice Needed

A true novice to Land rovers but always wanted to own and maintain one.Bought mine from a friend who didnt have time to complete and there were only a few things left to do...Two weeks later and the use of a garage owned by a friend who is a mechanic I completed the list...Off for an MOT I thought but no it was a fail with a list far longer than before.
The advice from my mechanic friend was to cut and run,list on ebay and escape.Well I didnt and here I am with the rolling chassis all prepped for the welder and a new bulkhead from a defender (rang for advice and the advice was to convert a new one,trouble is no one said how!!!?) all the body parts off and a feeling of dread that it will not all go back together.
All I need now is a fairly decent swb tub,setbox and wings and I maybe just maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel..

So just really asking if anyone has the bits I need at a fair price near Chesterfield ?? Oh and some one to say I willget there in the end!!

Ebay if you don't find one on here and don't worry you will get there in the end.















But by that time there'll be a whole load of new jobs to do.

keep at it,i got my first about 3 months ago and am thoroughly enjoying the rebuild,it has helped that i can weld,fabricate and have a welder.it's a pretty steep learning curve but enjoyable as well.i'm aiming to get it done by the summer and can't wait to get it on the road,it was a daunting prospect at first but now i can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

wow first landy and its in bits already!!! good show! while you have it stripped back so far you might as well take the old engine/box out and put a tdi and box out of a defender in (its easier when there is nothing on the chassis)

Thanks for the support and I'm sure when it goes back together (slowly) I will feel much better.The comments from G-man starts me thinking and already I have noticed that the more you strip it down the more there appears could be done ,ie new chassis ,engine change,new parabolic springs (is it true they are no better than leaf on the road?) but that then begs the question why restore an old one if really you want the performance and comfort of a newer one???

Keep with the project it would be gd to look at when your finished and think i completed that. thats wot doin with my series3

All depends on how bad the chassis is, the steel used in 1960's chassis fabrication did not have much in the way of corrosion resistance when it was smelted, i.e. chromium was not added to the melt. If the present chassis is really bad I would forget trying to patch up and just buy a new chassis if funds allow.

Because the old ones are tax exempt and are fun to drive
If you want a modern car then buy one as well.
