Series 1 or 2?

looking at the last pic it has elements of a 1 like the pedals with a 2.6 fitted in other bits dont look right obviously a project of sorts,back body is on a non landy chassis
I'm still confused about the way the shocks are fitted, unless someone was trying to fit longer ones somehow!
Didn't tomhop say the tub is on a Rover car chassis? Looks right for a road car rather than a Landy.

Yeh the tub is sitting on what I guess is a old rover chassis (the car Rover not a Landrover) there is a old car body shell laying there to.
 
A car lift you say? Don't tell me that haha. I'm free most weekends if you ever want to get together, go for a wee off road play or whatever. On topic for the thread, that looks to me like a series 1 107" front shock mounts look right for an s1 and it looks like a four cylinder 1.6 rather than a 6 pot 2.6.

I reckon you're right about the engine, but I looked at online photos & couldn't see shocks mounted on top of the chassis rail anywhere.
Then your photo came up just before I posted this, it seems we have a winner!
 
The dumb irons on the chassis look similar to the ones on my series 3 chassis rather than the one in your photo, I will maybe sneak back up tomorrow and take more photos, any particular areas that would help identify it?
 
I take back the 107, but def s1. centre xmember, square on one side, angled on the other. front shock mounts and engine mounts
 
You can see the near side engine mount in that picture, I will get more pictures tomorrow if the cross members etc and find out if they will let me take it all away for tidying up the rest!
 
Looks like an ambitious project - a barn find minus the barn! enough to frighten me off with my limited skills anyway :)
I'd grab the push bike in the first post and make off fast...
 
Thing is, that chassis looks fairly solid, lots of surface rust but no obvious holes. Although the rear xmember has been chopped off, it looks like nice straight cuts that would weld up easily. The bulkhead is reasonable and certainly repairable. The engine and gearbox look original and the gearbox is probably good inside if it has oil. So all in all, for an original series 1 chassis, drivetrain, tub and bulkhead you would probably still get a decent financial return without even needing to restore it. Its possible the rest of it is kicking around the farm as well.

It would be a long and expensive restoration but someone would definitely pay a lot for the privilege of doing it the way s1 prices are now. Even that egine could be saved. My PT engine sat outside in a field for 60 years and wasnt far off that condition. Its not that far off getting ready to out back togetehr now.

If Tomhop can get it cheap it would be a good investment. heres one in even worse nick

The chassis is destroyed, no engine of any description, rear tub knackered and no bulkhead. Its at £410 already with 4 bids and 5 days to go. Theres an 86"bare chassis as well at £1500. I'd say jump on it for sure.
 
The steering column on the series 1 bulkhead will be worth something , the castings have a tendency to break so if it is not broken has value.
Is the chassis not a series 1 , engine has side valves my 1954 was fitted with a 1600 engine which had side valves for the exhaust.
The engine & gearbox mountings are not series 2.
