I'm breaking down a 1984 ninety , I'm keeping enough to make a trailer out of the tub and rear axle but most of other stuff is up for grabs. What's the best way to sell the parts of I have left over. It's all stripped down and in my sheds but I'm moving house soon so want to get rid of the things I won't need. I have plans for a 110 five door rebuild and will be taking the v8 and gearbox out and axles out of my 1994 disco.

Anyway I have major things like , gearbox , transfer box , front wings , bonnet etc. So the question is what's the best way yo sell this stuff to finance the camping trailer build ?
 
i wouldn't bother with the trailer. it will be heavy and need money spent to make it work properly... like brakes, you might as well buy a sankey.
 
Ummmmm, dunno where do 100,000s of people usually sell LR stuff? Errrrrrr, that's a tough one, Pirate Bay? No, errrr, something "bay" anyway
 
I notice that rather coincidentally you have 51 posts to your name. The exact amount required to be able to use the "For Sale" section on this very forum. Maybe you could try selling your stuff there?

Thanks mr nasty but Whitley bay is way to far for me to travel . I'm not sure I'm gonna get the look I want out of a Sankey , I'm hoping I can loose some of the weight by stripping out axle components . I guess removing the diff and drive shaft will be start . I'll have to create something to replace the a frame and chassis but I'll work that out later .


Good point on the brakes I haven't worked that out yet but assuming there must be a way of using the nineties drum brakes with a brake tow bar hook up .

i was going to do it with a disco, but it just didn't make sense. chassis isn't flat, brake issue and after sourcing bits n bobs to make it hook up and brake.. it was going to be cheaper getting a sankey/trailer.

nm it would be technically dodgy if pulled.

what look you after?

There's two coincidences here .. First 51 posts .......secondly I was going to say more morcambe bay but couldn't spell it so went for Whitley bay instead ...lol

I want It to match the lines of the defender , I'm planning on reducing the height in the rear window panels so it will sit lower thAn the defender , giving me the option for a roof rack on the trailer or a bike rack. Not sure which yet

That looks pretty neat.

I wonder whether you would be best to dump the defender axle/suspension and go to a custom trailer maker (eg for towing boats) who could provide a chassis, complete with brakes etc, to sit the tub on. Should be much lighter!

That's an option , or might consider building a myself although I'm nit sure on the rules on road worthy ness ect. Lots to consider.

yup, not sure if homebuilt needs an iva now. but another thing to consider if the weight of it and what you can tow. no point in having a nice heavy trailer if it turns out you can only but a few sugar bags in it legally.
 
A professional builder will know all the rules and regs, and be able to put a proper plate on it. Might not cost much over home built either, as they will be buying components in cheap and have all the necessary jigs to get it straight.

Would definitely be worth checking out.
