After replacing sagging springs on the front, and fitting new air bags on the rear the car when started sits with the front around 2" higher than the rear, and the SLS light is on.
Ive plugged in Hawkeye, but no fault codes present, right side has 80 counts, left 96.
I can raise the suspension using the hawkeye, so the compressor runs, but as soon as I switch the car off it lowers onto the bump stops,
Ive checked with soapy water for air leaks- none found,
Any idea's
 
did you work on the springs with battery unplugged? strangely and not normally but it happens that the calibration of the sensors to suffer if the body gets all kind of unexpected movements with ignition off and battery connected, but if you have the warning on and no fault codes unfortunately it looks very like an ECU problem... do you have hawkeye v.7?
 
yeah worked on the springs with the battery connected, thought that was ok if i didnt disconnect height sensors?

As i said the SLS can make tricks with battery connected and it gets strange inputs without ignition off cos it's alive up to 2 hours after the ignition was off or every time you open a door, seen that happen not once, remove the compressor relay when it's on level(with ignition on) ride it a bit this way, it should not drop, then read the fault code again...if still no fault code then IMO it's a problem with the ECU... i can't remember, do you have SLS menu on the v.5? or you went only into ABS menu?... you can update it online from bearmach site if you have the cable

in the v5 hawkeye, you go through the chassis settings onto the abs menu,
im assuming you mean pump it up to level, then remove the relay?
and where is the relay,

relay R5 engine bay fusebox, according to the SLS built in diagnostic protocoll you should get a "compressor open load" or "relay open circuit" fault code with it removed, if no fault code it means the ECU is missbehaveing
 
right i'll remove that in a minute,
but just disconnected the height sensors from the trailing arms and pushed them up on both sides and the car raised up as normal? but the light is still on the dash
 
it might be badly decalibrated then but the fact that you have the warning and no fault code is not good, plug in hawkeye again and prompt the "clear fault codes" even if you dont get any, maybe you are lucky, unfortunately only hawkeye v.7 can calibrate

If the rear was sagging before you started work it may be worth checking the two solenoids/valves in the housing where the compressor lives as I have known these to leak giving the same symptoms as leaking air bags.

already checked for leaks---none found

I can force the light off by using hawkeye,
light flashes after start up, as car tries to level up but can't,
would faulty height sensor cause any of this?
 
wait a minute which light are you talking about, the SLS fault warning or the ORM one? ... a faulty sensor should trigger a specific fault code in normal conditions but as you moved them by hand and the compressor kicked in it's something else, most likely calibration issue
 
i can force the sls fault light off by using the circuit test function, but after releasing the hawkeye button it comes back on
 
i understood that but you said it's flashing so i ask again which one is flashing the fault warning(bottom line with one arow up one down)or the ORM(top right with one arrow up)? cos if the fault warning is flashing i'ts definitely ECU missbehaviour.... jack it up from the towbar to aprox normal height, start the engine and push the ORM switch see what happens
 
jacked rear to approx height, pressed ORM, got 1 bong, ORM light lit up then goes out no change to suspension height, sls warning flashing,
I remove the jack car lowers onto bump stops, sls light stops flashing but stays lit
 
Find somebody with nanocom or hawkeye v.7, run a calibration on it to rule it out and if still no joy IMO you need another ECU... you said you didnt disconnect the battery when you worked on the springs but did you disconnect it at all since then?, if not disconnect it and leave it so few minutes as the internal counter of the SLABS to reset, i dont have too much hope it will help but worth a try... the big problem is that the SLS fault warning is not supposed to flash... double check anyway just to rule this out too that the SLS wasnt accidentaly set to transport mode though
 
is the sls light not meant to flash whilst is levelling the suspension,
where is the relevant ecu by the way
