I want to have protective (anti-theft) grills for all windows of my Defender 110 Td5 (2005).
For the rear door and two small windows at the rear, I thought of having grills pemanently fixed, inside. For the two rear side windows, also permanent grills, probably, and these would likely be outside. That leaves the windows of the two rear passenger doors, those of the driver's door and the front passenger door, and the windscreen. For these five areas, the grills would be removable and fitted outside (according to how I see it).
I am wondering about a couple of things.
1) For each of the two doors on each side, would it be better to have one long grill, or would two shorter grills be better?
2) For the grills that are to be removable, I suppose that brackets of some kind will have to be welded on, and this sounds potentially a bit messy (risks spoiling bodywork?).
3) When a removable grill is in position, on its brackets, would it be secured by padlocks?
Maybe there are other issues I'm not aware of.
I know this stuff IS done, but have never seen it, and never seen photos or diagrams. Advice gratefully received. And is there any website I might look at?
