I want to have protective (anti-theft) grills for all windows of my Defender 110 Td5 (2005).

For the rear door and two small windows at the rear, I thought of having grills pemanently fixed, inside. For the two rear side windows, also permanent grills, probably, and these would likely be outside. That leaves the windows of the two rear passenger doors, those of the driver's door and the front passenger door, and the windscreen. For these five areas, the grills would be removable and fitted outside (according to how I see it).

I am wondering about a couple of things.

1) For each of the two doors on each side, would it be better to have one long grill, or would two shorter grills be better?

2) For the grills that are to be removable, I suppose that brackets of some kind will have to be welded on, and this sounds potentially a bit messy (risks spoiling bodywork?).

3) When a removable grill is in position, on its brackets, would it be secured by padlocks?

Maybe there are other issues I'm not aware of.

I know this stuff IS done, but have never seen it, and never seen photos or diagrams. Advice gratefully received. And is there any website I might look at?

do you live in liverpool?

for yer windscreen you could have a fold down one that rests on rubber bungs on tit bonnet. .. or buy an ex army one thats seen service in NI

Popotla,

Check out the link below, run by a lovely couple called Nigel and Pam. They have really well made equipment that Nigel makes himself. Anything he doesn't have, that you might want he could probably make for you. I know they tend to exhibit at most or all of the main Landy shows, but you an always give em a ring.

Other Products

I saw a Land Cruiser in Africa last year with grills all over the bloody place, including the windscreen one Slob is taking the **** about. The vehicle did look like an army riot van. V bizarre and totally OTT.

actually ah wint takin the ****, if he wants a mesh fer his windscreen a fold down one is the way to go. you don't need no storage space fer it and its always with you. also if you attach a string to it you can pull it up in a hurry if you get caught short in liverpool

i was thinking of getting some for mine and found a full set of back ones as well as side ones, the company dont do front ones on there web page but they might if you asked them. they look ok too... Land Rover Defender Side Window Grill if you find better ones let me know...

These are the ones I am after.

Got moved to a new premises with work and it is right dodgy! After two hours in the new hop my Landy was broken into and my rather expensive Draper tool kit was knicked. Not impressed.

Does anyone know how much these cost? I have emailed the company two or three times asking for a quote, but no one has got back to me!
