Does this mean you have your split charge gubbins going spare? I'd be interested if you have and want to sell it on .. what sort, pics?, what do you want for it, posted to Doncaster?

Doubt I'll ever get a second alternator, but I will have a second battery for the winch and stuff!!

haha, you bastid i was gonna ask that!

fair play you got in first ;)

Faced with watching Strictly with SWMBO or standing outside in the dark with a head-torch you can guess which I went for!!

Spot on now! :D:D:D:D I've got the original alternator lamp and the extra one listed a few posts ago. As that is an LED it isn't working as it should. Bodged a normal bulb in and it goes on/off at the right times so I'll get a proper warning light.

Seems okay at the moment but I have already made an earth cable up so I'll have a look in the AM.

Thanks everybody.
:banana::banana::banana:

awesome, i'm glad it was such a quick job *ROLLING MY EYES*

LOL, first thread I saw after posting on What I did today .. :)

Hi Paul,

The "gubbins" is just a couple of relays!

I use this 100A relay triggered by this voltage sensing relay.

I'm keeping the gubbins in place but removing the cable from Battery 1 and then linking the empty connection to my Heatshot (Heated washer system). That way, I can switch on/off as required thereby avoiding it being on all the time the car is running.

With new cable, it would cost about £35 from scratch.

:D

Rob, you should of got in touch. I'd have gone through it all on a video call if needed be.

Bump and myself fitted the 2nd alternator to mine a few weeks back with the same Gwyn Lewis set up. :)

Cheers Mark. It wasn't a massive priority, that's why it took almost a year. Only did it now as the warranty end was looming and I didn't want to fall foul of that if the alternator was at fault - highly unlikely! ;)

Like it. I still have an unwired heated front screen fitted in 2010.

I put the wires in the right place.:eek::eek::eek:

Ditched the black wire (see post 13) and attached that to the casing and moved the exciter wire to the middle terminal.

How is yours wired? Photos?
