Freelander 1 Seat lifter-pushy-forward lever insides snapped/come loose

Hi everyone

I've just tried to put the front seat forward in advance of cleaning my car and heard a loud twang and now the lever does nothing.

Can someone point me in the direction of how to remove the guts so I can try and fix it, or is it a lost cause and I need a new seat?

Its a 2001 Freebie 1.

Hi Nodge

Its the front passenger seat. In case it wasnt clear the first time, its the lever which allows the seat to pivot forwards and allow a passenger in the back.

The back rest cover needs removing, so the cable can be accessed. It's not a difficult task but can be fiddly.
The cable should be available, so it's worth getting one in advance.

How do I remove the cover? I cant see any obvious screws or clips...

The cover is clipped at the bottom between the front and back faces. The adjuster wheel needs removing too. Then once the bottom fixings are free, the cover can be peeled upwards to reveal the cable.
The lever can be levered off carefully and the lever trim afterwards.
It is probably possible to tape a stout length of string to the old cable, so when it's removed, the string would end up where the cable was. The new cable is then taped to the string, so it can be drawn pack into the correct place. The cable hocks then need to be reattached at each end. Then the cover can be slid back down and reclipped back into place.
I've used a bit of artistic licence here, as I've not done a Freelander seat. I have done similar repairs on many other seats however, all being similar in construction and repair.
